ai.trendsmcp/market-research

Live trend data from Google, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, Reddit, and 30+ sources for AI agents.

What is the Market Research Trends MCP MCP server?

Trends MCP is an MCP server that provides live trend data and historical time-series from 30+ platforms including Google Search, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, Reddit, and more. It exposes three tools for querying trend volume, growth metrics, and real-time trending lists across multiple data sources. Use it to monitor market interest, compare platform trends, and identify emerging topics.

Trends MCP gives AI agents access to normalized trend signals across major platforms—search volume, social media hashtags, app downloads, and more. Query historical trends for any keyword, calculate percent growth over multiple time windows, or pull live trending lists. One API key covers all 30+ sources; free tier includes 100 requests/month.

Tools & capabilities

Tools this server exposes to the agent.

  • get_time_series — Fetch weekly or daily historical trend data for a keyword on a single source (Google Search, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, Reddit, Wikipedia, Steam, npm, etc.). Returns indexed values (0–100) and absolute volume where available.
  • get_growth — Calculate percent change for a keyword across one or multiple sources over preset windows (7D, 14D, 30D, 1M, 3M, 6M, 12M, 2Y, 5Y, etc.). Multiple time windows in one call count as a single request.
  • get_top_trends — Retrieve live ranked trending lists from platforms (Google Trends, TikTok Trending Hashtags, Reddit Hot Posts, YouTube Trending, Amazon Best Sellers, Spotify Top Podcasts, Steam Most Played, etc.). No keyword required; supports pagination and optional category filters.

Use cases

  • Monitor market heating/cooling by comparing 6-month growth for a product across Google, TikTok, and Amazon
  • Identify emerging topics by pulling live trending lists from Google Trends, Reddit, or TikTok
  • Track historical search volume for a keyword to spot seasonal patterns or viral moments
  • Compare app download trends across Android platforms using bundle IDs
  • Analyze npm package popularity over time to assess library adoption

Market Research Trends MCP MCP server FAQ

What is Trends MCP?

Trends MCP is an MCP server that connects AI agents to live and historical trend data from 30+ platforms (Google, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, Reddit, Wikipedia, Steam, npm, and more). It provides three tools: time-series history, growth metrics, and live trending lists.

Is it free?

Yes. The free tier includes 100 requests/month. Paid plans start at $19/month for 1,000 requests. Failed calls are not billed, and there are no surprise overages (rate-limited at 429 when quota is exceeded).

How do I install it in Claude or Cursor?

Claude: Use the one-click button at https://claude.ai/customize/connectors to add the connector (OAuth sign-in). Cursor: Click the install button or manually add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json with your API key from https://www.trendsmcp.ai/account. Both require a free API key.

Do I need separate API keys for each platform?

No. One API key from trendsmcp.ai covers all 30+ sources (Google, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, Reddit, Wikipedia, Steam, npm, etc.). No per-platform authentication required.

What data sources are supported?

Google Search, Google Images, Google News, Google Shopping, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Amazon, Wikipedia, News Volume, News Sentiment, App Downloads (Android), App Rankings, npm, Steam, and live feeds from Google Trends, TikTok, YouTube, X/Twitter, Reddit, Spotify, GitHub, IMDb, Open Library, Substack, and more.

Can I query multiple sources in one call?

For time-series history, you must call get_time_series once per source. For growth metrics, get_growth accepts a comma-separated source list (e.g., 'google search, tiktok, amazon') in a single call. Live trending lists (get_top_trends) are queried by feed type, one per call.

Tools

Always-current parameter lists: docs.

get_time_series

Weekly (or daily) history for one source + keyword. Same name on MCP and REST (mode: "get_time_series"). REST also accepts get_trends as an alias.

ArgumentRequiredNotes
keywordyesFormat depends on source (table below)
sourceyesOne source per call. Lowercase catalog names
data_modenoREST only. weekly (default) or daily

Index is 0–100 where the pipeline supports it (100 = peak in the returned window). volume is present when that source has an absolute series.

get_growth

Point-to-point percent change. Several windows in one call still count as one request for that source + keyword.

ArgumentRequiredNotes

get_top_trends

Live ranked list. No keyword. On MCP, type is required and must match the feed name exactly (including capitals). On REST, omit type only if you intend to pull every feed (billed per feed).

Starter1,000$19
Pro5,000$49
Business25,000$199

Annual billing is 20% less. Same source catalog on every plan. Free history and “top N” caps are on pricing. Failed calls are not billed. Over quota returns 429 / rate_limited (no surprise overages).

One billed request:

  • get_time_series: one source + keyword
  • get_growth: one source + keyword (all windows in that call included)
  • get_top_trends: per type (and pagination as documented)
StatusMeaning
400Bad or missing source / type / field
401Missing or invalid key
404No series for that keyword + source
429Monthly cap
500Upstream or internal error

Do not commit keys. Claude.ai connectors use OAuth; other clients use Authorization: Bearer ….

What this does not do

  • Region / geo breakdown, related queries, or related topics
  • Hourly series
  • get_time_series across several sources in one call (use get_growth with a comma-separated source list, or several get_time_series calls)
  • Inventing feed names: MCP type must match the table

pip install -e .
