Nibomo MCP Server
com.nibomo/flashcards
AI-powered flashcards with spaced repetition—read, write, and review cards conversationally via MCP.
What is the Nibomo MCP server?
The Nibomo MCP server exposes tools for reading, writing, and conversationally reviewing open-source flashcards using FSRS-based spaced repetition scheduling. It integrates with the Nibomo flashcards app (iOS, Android, web) and enables AI agents to manage study decks, retrieve cards for review, and submit review results through a structured MCP interface.
Nibomo is an open-source, AI-powered flashcards platform designed for serious daily study. The MCP server lets you programmatically access and manage flashcard workspaces, query card data, and conduct one-question-at-a-time conversational reviews with idempotent FSRS scheduling. Use it to automate study workflows, integrate flashcards into AI agent pipelines, or build custom review experiences.

Tools & capabilities
Tools this server exposes to the agent.
list_workspaces— List available flashcard workspaces scoped to the authenticated user.sql_query— Execute read-only SQL queries against workspace data.sql_execute— Execute write SQL operations on workspace data.get_guide— Retrieve guidance or documentation for a workspace or card set.next_review_card— Fetch the next card due for review in a workspace.reveal_answer— Reveal the answer to a card during a conversational review.submit_review— Submit a review result for a card, updating FSRS scheduling state.get_usage_limits— Check account-scoped usage limits and quota information.
Use cases
- Automate daily flashcard review sessions through conversational AI agents
- Build custom study workflows that integrate spaced repetition scheduling with external tools
- Query and analyze flashcard performance data across workspaces
- Generate or improve flashcard content using AI while maintaining study history
- Create voice-based or text-based review experiences that sync with the Nibomo app
Nibomo MCP server FAQ
It's an MCP connector for the Nibomo open-source flashcards app that exposes tools for reading, writing, and conversationally reviewing flashcards with FSRS-based spaced repetition scheduling.
Yes, Nibomo is open-source (MIT License) and the flashcards app is available free on iOS, Android, and web. The MCP server is hosted at https://mcp.nibomo.com/mcp.
Interactive clients use OAuth 2.1 authorization code + PKCE. Headless clients (like Claude or Cursor) can use an `fca_` Bearer token for authentication.
Yes. Configure the MCP server URL (https://mcp.nibomo.com/mcp) in your client settings and authenticate with your Nibomo account or Bearer token.
You can list workspaces, query card data with SQL, retrieve cards due for review, and submit review results. All operations are scoped to your authenticated account.
The MCP tools support conversational one-question-at-a-time reviews, but ChatGPT Voice does not currently invoke MCP servers or external apps.

Nibomo
AI-powered open-source flashcards app for iOS, Android, and web.

Nibomo (formerly Flashcards Open Source App) is an open-source AI-powered flashcards app built for serious daily study on iOS, Android, and the web. Use it to prepare for exams, learn vocabulary, memorize technical terms and facts, improve your material with AI, and review with spaced repetition. The project also includes an external agent API for terminal and AI-agent workflows.

Card scheduling
Card scheduling uses FSRS-based spaced repetition. Detailed scheduling rules live in docs/fsrs-scheduling-logic.md.
MCP connector
The hosted MCP server is available at https://mcp.nibomo.com/mcp and publishes to MCP registries under com.nibomo/flashcards. It exposes eight tools, most of them workspace-scoped: list_workspaces, sql_query, sql_execute, get_guide, next_review_card, reveal_answer, submit_review, and the account-scoped get_usage_limits.
The dedicated review tools support one-question-at-a-time conversations and idempotent FSRS scheduling. See conversational reviews for the contract shared by MCP, the in-app chat, and the Agent API, and for voice-session examples. ChatGPT Voice currently does not invoke apps/MCP; these tools do not remove that external limitation.
Interactive clients authenticate with OAuth 2.1 authorization code + PKCE and Dynamic Client Registration. Headless clients can use an fca_ Bearer token.
The former address https://mcp.flashcards-open-source-app.com/mcp still serves the same server, so existing client configurations keep working. A client moved to https://mcp.nibomo.com/mcp authorizes once more; backend and web deployment owns why.
