Agent Swarm MCP Server
io.github.desplega-ai/agent-swarm
Open-source operating system for AI work: orchestrate multi-agent teams with persistent memory, Docker workers, and integrations.
What is the Agent Swarm MCP server?
Agent Swarm is an open-source MCP server and orchestration engine that enables AI agents to delegate tasks to isolated worker agents, coordinate workflows, and maintain persistent memory across sessions. It provides a lead agent that receives work from Slack, repositories, email, and APIs, then delegates to workers running in Docker containers with shared memory and tools.
Agent Swarm turns companies AI-native by providing a complete orchestration platform for multi-agent systems. A lead agent receives tasks from multiple sources (Slack, GitHub, email, API) and delegates them to isolated worker agents. The system persists memory and identity across sessions, supports schema-validated task results, deferred tasks with deadline triggers, and integrates with popular platforms like Slack, GitHub, GitLab, Linear, and Jira. Use it to automate recurring workflows, coordinate team-wide AI work, and maintain context across agent interactions.
How to install Agent Swarm

- Set up recurring scheduled tasks (daily reports, code reviews, email triage) executed by isolated worker agents
- Build custom AI workflows that integrate Slack, GitHub, email, and other platforms into a unified task system
- Enable AI agents to learn from past work and improve over time using persistent memory and vector search
Agent Swarm MCP server FAQ
Agent Swarm is an open-source orchestration platform that lets you run multi-agent AI systems. A lead agent receives work from Slack, GitHub, email, or APIs and delegates tasks to isolated worker agents running in Docker containers. It maintains persistent memory and identity across sessions.
Yes, Agent Swarm is open-source under the MIT License. You can self-host it with Docker Compose or Kubernetes. There is also a cloud service at agent-swarm.dev with optional paid features.
In Cursor, use `/add-plugin desplega-ai/agent-swarm`. In Claude Code, use `/plugin marketplace add desplega-ai/agent-swarm` then `/plugin install agent-swarm@agent-swarm`. Alternatively, run `npx skills add desplega-ai/agent-swarm` in any harness.
Agent Swarm integrates with Slack, GitHub, GitLab, Linear, Jira, AgentMail, WhatsApp (Kapso), Composio, Sentry, Devin, and Serply search. Additional integrations can be built via the API.
Yes, you need an API key and credentials for your chosen harness (Claude, Codex, Cursor, etc.). For self-hosted deployments, set API_KEY and agent UUIDs in the .env file. The cloud service uses standard OAuth.
Yes, Agent Swarm provides an OCI Helm chart for Kubernetes deployments. See the charts/agent-swarm/README.md for installation instructions.

agent-swarm.dev is an open-source operating system for AI work. A lead agent delegates goals to workers such as Claude Code or Codex. Isolated containers, shared memory, tools, schedules, and review gates preserve work across sessions.
What you get
- A lead agent that receives work from Slack, repositories, issue trackers, email, or the API
- Schema-validated task results for callers that need structured JSON output
- Deferred tasks that wake when all or any watched tasks reach an outcome, or a deadline arrives
- Inline tool-result images in task logs, with previews that open at full size
- Dashboard file attachments by paste, drag-and-drop, or file picker
- Workers in isolated Docker containers with development environments
- Memory and identity that persist across sessions, with citation ratings and self-rating hints enabled by default
- Workflows, schedules, scripts, and apps for recurring work
- Extensions for trusted TypeScript hooks, installed as agent-owned inert drafts and activated by a trusted lead, operator, or dashboard user
- Realtime rooms for shared page state, presence, and live channels
- Your choice of harness and models: Claude Code, Codex, pi, opencode, Devin, or ACP agents

Feature defaults
Fresh deployments enable Slack thread renderer v2, queued Slack steering to the lead,
task steering, multi-runtime workers, RBAC, and task-tool preloading. Hybrid memory
search and graph expansion are also enabled. Explicit environment/config overrides
remain supported; see the environment reference.
When upgrading older workers, keep MULTI_RUNTIME_ENABLED=false until they support
runtime identities. Slack delegation rendering remains opt-in, and database retention
continues to default to dry-run.
