io.github.sandraschi/resonite-mcp

Natural language control of Resonite VR worlds, avatars, and assets through AI chat.

What is the io.github.sandraschi/resonite-mcp MCP server?

Resonite MCP is an MCP server that bridges AI assistants to the Resonite social VR platform, enabling natural language commands to spawn objects, customize avatars, manage worlds, and control telemetry. It provides both a Python MCP interface and a web dashboard for real-time interaction with Resonite sessions via the ResoniteLink protocol.

Resonite MCP connects your AI assistant (Claude, etc.) to the Resonite VR platform, letting you control your virtual world and avatar through chat. You can spawn assets, toggle locomotion, adjust avatar biometrics, check who's online, build furnished rooms, and monitor your session—all without leaving your chat interface. It includes a visual web dashboard for deeper inspection and management.

io.github.sandraschi/resonite-mcp MCP server FAQ

What is Resonite MCP?

Resonite MCP is an integration server that connects AI assistants like Claude to the Resonite social VR platform. It lets you control your avatar, spawn objects, manage worlds, and monitor sessions using natural language commands through chat.

Is Resonite MCP free?

Yes, Resonite MCP is MIT licensed and open-source. You only need a Resonite account (the game is free-to-play on Steam) and the ability to run Python 3.12+.

How do I install it in Claude Desktop?

Clone the repository, run `just bootstrap` and `just serve` to start the dashboard, then add the server configuration to your `claude_desktop_config.json` file with the command `uv --directory <path> run resonite-mcp`.

Do I need authentication?

You need a Resonite account and an active Resonite game session with ResoniteLink enabled (Dashboard → Session → Settings → Enable ResoniteLink). The MCP server communicates with your local Resonite client over WebSocket.

Can I use Resonite MCP without the web dashboard?

Yes, Resonite MCP works as a standalone MCP server for chat-based control. The web dashboard at `http://localhost:10978` is optional but provides visual monitoring and additional management features.

What companion servers can extend Resonite MCP?

Optional companion servers include blender-mcp (asset decimation and VRM pipeline), yahboom-mcp (digital twin visualization), teleoperator-mcp (OSC robot teleoperation), and mixx-dj-mcp (live DJ audio streaming). Each is independent and optional.

Talk to your virtual world.

Resonite MCP is an integration bridge and state-of-the-art web dashboard that connects AI assistants to the Resonite social VR platform. Using natural language, you can command your world, customize your avatar, inspect your sessions, and control your telemetry directly through chat.

✨ Key Features

  • 🤖 AI Assistant Integration (MCP): Use natural language with your AI chat client to spawn objects, toggle locomotion, change active slots, or load worlds.
  • 🧬 Avatar & Biometric Tuning: Adjust tracking smoothing, toggle eye tracking, and monitor lipsync parameters in real-time.
  • 👥 Socials & Contacts: Check who is online, read chat logs, and join your friends' sessions with one click.
  • 📦 In-World Spawning: Search, organize, and spawn assets directly from your inventory database.
  • 🏠 World Builder: Assemble a furnished room in your live session from a form — 5 styles, 3 sizes, 4 furniture sets, spawned piece-by-piece over ResoniteLink with a full build report.
  • 📥 Asset Downloads: No official marketplace exists, so the page collects the real sources instead — Unity exporter, mod tools, model libraries, community links — plus the import path into Resonite.
  • 🛰️ Fleet Apps Hub: Live registry of every installed fleet webapp with health dots and click-to-open.
  • 🎨 Visual Dashboard & Gallery: Monitor connection health, inspect the world's node tree, and browse a visual gallery of screenshots and popular worlds.

🌐 The Build-and-Inhabit Fleet Ecosystem

This repository is not just a standalone connector, but a vital node in a wider Multi-Agent Fleet Ecosystem:

  • Multi-Node Federation: Supports federated asset caching under the standard directory ~/.avatarmcp/ and uses MCP_BRIDGE_URLS for cross-network state synchronization between developer nodes.
  • Build-and-Inhabit Pipeline: Integrates external design environments (such as Blender, GIMP, and Inkscape) directly into VR platforms (such as Resonite, VRChat, and Vircadia). Assets are automatically compiled, staged, spawned in-world over WebSockets, and inhabited by the agent via real-time OSC telemetry.
  • For complete details on the architecture, setup stages, and platform behaviors, read the Build-and-Inhabit Pipeline Guide and VR Worlds Comparison Guide.

⛩️ The Miko's Digital Shrine

In the spirit of kami and miko -- this MCP server serves as a bridge between human creators and the digital spirits of virtual worlds. The kawaii and clever miko tends the shrines of code, ensuring the kami of creation flow freely through our digital spaces.

🚀 Quick Start (Get Running in 3 Steps)

Step 1: Launch Resonite

Make sure the Resonite game client is running on Steam. Enable the ResoniteLink connection inside the session settings (Dashboard ➔ Session ➔ Settings ➔ Enable ResoniteLink).

Step 2: Start the Dashboard

Clone the repository and spin up the frontend webapp and Python server:

git clone https://github.com/sandraschi/resonite-mcp
cd resonite-mcp
just bootstrap
just serve

The web dashboard is now active at http://localhost:10978.

Step 3: Connect your AI Assistant

Add the server configuration to your Claude Desktop config file (claude_desktop_config.json):

"mcpServers": {
  "resonite-mcp": {
    "command": "uv",
    "args": ["--directory", "D:/Dev/repos/resonite-mcp", "run", "resonite-mcp"]
  }
}

Fleet Crossconnects (Companions)

resonite-mcp works completely standalone. You can optionally connect it with companion servers in the sandraschi fleet to unlock extended features:

Companion ServerFeature UnlockedStatusSetup

📈 Status & Roadmap

  • Current Version: v1.1.0 (ResoniteLink Protocol 0.13.1).
  • Compliance: Agent Lab Phases 1–6 complete. Real-time slot CRUD, OSC synchronization, and cached asset syncing are fully live-verified.
  • TODO -- nearby-object search: overte-mcp has a spatial find_nearby query built on Overte's Entities.findEntities; ResoniteLink has no equivalent primitive, so this hasn't been ported. Building it would mean walking the scene graph (recursive get_children/get_slot from a root, filtering by distance client-side) instead of a single server-side spatial query -- a different, slower design, not a straight port. See CHANGELOG.md (2026-09-02 entries) for the rest of what did port cleanly from overte-mcp (animate, fixture spawner, model/texture depot + backup).
  • License: MIT Licensed. Made with care for the Resonite community.
