What is competitor-teardown?

Use it for market research, competitive intelligence, investor decks, and product strategy by combining web search, screenshots, and review mining into visual deliverables.
- Research competitor company overview, funding, and team via web search
- Capture competitor UX with screenshots of homepage, pricing, and signup flows
- Build feature comparison matrices showing capabilities across competitors
- Analyze pricing models, tiers, billing terms, and hidden costs
- Mine user reviews from G2, Capterra, App Store, and Reddit for strengths and weaknesses
- Create SWOT analysis for each competitor

competitor-teardown FAQ
Use web search (Tavily, Exa) for company overview and funding; screenshots (infsh/agent-browser) for UX; G2, Capterra, App Store, and Reddit for reviews; LinkedIn for team information; and the competitor's website for pricing, messaging, and content strategy.
Pick two meaningful dimensions that differentiate competitors, such as Simple↔Complex, SMB↔Enterprise, Self-serve↔Sales-led, or Specialized↔General. Avoid obvious axes like Cheap↔Expensive or Good↔Bad.
List your product and 2–4 key competitors as columns, and important features as rows. Use ✅ for full support, ⚠️ for partial/conditional, and ❌ for unavailable. Add notes like 'Paid only' or 'Enterprise tier' to clarify conditions. Lead with features where you win.
G2 and Capterra are best for B2B SaaS; App Store and Google Play for mobile; Reddit and Product Hunt for candid user opinions. Look for patterns in what users praise most and complain about most—these reveal your competitive opportunities.
Check for minimum seat requirements, annual-only billing, setup/onboarding fees, metered API charges, contract lock-in periods, and feature gating between tiers. These often make competitors more expensive than headline pricing suggests.
