app-launch FAQ

Should I do a phased or simultaneous global launch?

Phased rollout (e.g., US first, then EU, then rest of world) lets you manage support load and iterate on messaging. Simultaneous is faster but riskier if you hit critical bugs. Choose phased if you have limited support capacity or want to test messaging; simultaneous if you have strong infrastructure and press momentum matters more.

How many beta testers do I need before launch?

50–200 is the recommended range. Aim for at least 50 to catch critical bugs and get diverse feedback; 200+ if you want statistically significant crash data. Recruit from your existing audience, communities, and TestFlight sign-ups.

What's the best free channel to launch on?

Product Hunt is best for productivity, design, and developer tools; Hacker News (Show HN) for technical or innovative apps; Reddit for niche communities. Most apps benefit from all three, but prioritize based on your app's category and audience.

When should I start Apple Search Ads?

Submit your Apple Search Ads campaign 1 week before launch so it's live on day one. Start with a modest daily budget ($10–50) and increase based on performance. Monitor CPI and conversion rates closely in week 1.

How do I measure launch success?

Track: day-one downloads, week-one retention, keyword ranking improvements, review count and rating, press mentions, and social engagement. Set targets for each phase (week 1, month 1, month 3) based on your category benchmarks and budget.
