instagram-research FAQ

What Instagram accounts does this analyze?

It analyzes accounts you configure in .claude/context/instagram-accounts.md. You must set up this file with the Instagram usernames you want to track.

How does it identify outlier content?

It calculates an engagement score (likes + 3×comments + 0.1×views) and flags posts where engagement rate exceeds the mean plus (threshold × standard deviation), with a default threshold of 2.0.

What hook information does it extract?

For each top video, it extracts the hook technique, opening line, why it works, replicable formula, content structure, pacing, retention techniques, and CTA strategy.

Can I customize the search parameters?

Yes. fetch_instagram.py accepts --type (posts/reels/stories), --days (how far back to search), and --limit (max items per account).

What do I need to set up first?

You need an Apify account (APIFY_TOKEN), Google Gemini API access (GEMINI_API_KEY), Python packages installed, and Instagram accounts listed in .claude/context/instagram-accounts.md.

RUN_FOLDER="instagram-research/$(date +%Y-%m-%d_%H%M%S)" && mkdir -p "$RUN_FOLDER" && echo "$RUN_FOLDER"

2. Fetch Content

python3 .claude/skills/instagram-research/scripts/fetch_instagram.py \
