Get your app featured on the App Store by understanding Apple's editorial process and optimization strategy.

What is app-store-featured?

This skill helps you maximize chances of getting featured on the App Store by analyzing what Apple's editorial team looks for, preparing your app for featuring, and crafting effective pitches. Use it when aiming for App of the Day, Today tab placement, or other editorial features.

  • Assess app readiness for featuring across design, Apple technology adoption, quality signals, and story
  • Identify which Apple technologies (SwiftUI, WidgetKit, Live Activities, visionOS) matter most for editorial consideration
  • Evaluate featuring placement types (App of the Day, Today Tab Story, Apps We Love, Category Feature) and how to target each
  • Create a pitch strategy with timing, story angle, and asset preparation for Apple's self-nomination form
  • Plan In-App Events calendar to drive self-serve featuring on Today tab and search results
  • Generate a readiness score and prioritized action plan before contacting Apple

app-store-featured FAQ

What's the most important factor for getting featured?

Apple prioritizes design quality and adoption of latest Apple technologies (SwiftUI, WidgetKit, Live Activities, visionOS) equally. A 4.5+ star rating is also strongly preferred. Without these, featuring is unlikely regardless of other factors.

When should I pitch Apple for featuring?

Best times are 2-4 weeks before a major update, around Apple events (WWDC, iPhone launch), seasonal moments (New Year, holidays), or immediately after adopting new Apple technology. Avoid pitching right after buggy updates or when rating is below 4.0.

What if I don't have the latest Apple technologies?

Adopt them. Apple's editorial team strongly favors apps using SwiftUI, WidgetKit, and other modern frameworks. visionOS support is highest priority in 2025-2026. This is a critical gap to address before pitching.

Can I get featured without pitching Apple directly?

Yes, through In-App Events. These appear on Today tab, search results, and your product page automatically. Create events regularly (challenges, competitions, major updates) tied to cultural moments and seasons.

What should my app's story angle be?

Lead with why you built it (your journey), what makes it unique, and how it's timely (tied to current events, seasons, or Apple launches). Include user impact metrics and developer story in your pitch.
