genshijin-commit
interfacex-co-jp/genshijin
Ultra-concise commit messages in Conventional Commits format, emphasizing why over what.
What is genshijin-commit?
Generates commit messages following Conventional Commits with subjects ≤50 characters, prioritizing rationale over description. Supports Japanese and English, matching repository conventions. Triggered by "commit message", "/commit", or "/genshijin-commit", with optional auto-activation on staged changes.
- Generates subject lines in `<type>(<scope>): <imperative>` format with 10 commit types (feat, fix, refactor, perf, docs, test, chore, build, ci, style, revert)
- Enforces imperative mood and ≤50 character targets (72 character hard limit)
- Detects repository language (Japanese/English) from git log history and matches existing conventions
- Generates body text only when necessary, focusing on non-obvious rationale, breaking changes, migrations, and issue references
- Prevents anti-patterns: self-referential language, AI attribution, emoji (unless project standard), redundant scope/filename mentions

genshijin-commit FAQ
Omit the body text. The skill generates subject lines only when the change is obvious; body text is added only for non-obvious rationale, breaking changes, migrations, or issue references.
It inspects your repository's git log history with `git log` to match the predominant language of existing commits.
Only if your project's existing conventions require them. The skill avoids emoji by default to keep messages searchable and portable.
The skill automatically adds a body section with `BREAKING CHANGE:` trailer and migration instructions, keeping the subject concise.
No. It generates message text only, formatted as a code block ready to copy. You run `git commit` yourself.
