k-skill-setup

nomadamas/k-skill

Install k-skill bundle, configure CLI, resolve credentials, and verify runtime environment.

What is k-skill-setup?

k-skill-setup initializes the k-skill unified CLI and installs the k-skill bundle for coding agents. Use this as your first step to enable other k-skills, configure credentials securely, and verify your runtime environment (Dolshoi vault/CloakBrowser or generic).

  • Installs the k-skill CLI and bundle via npm
  • Detects and configures for your runtime environment (Dolshoi vault/CloakBrowser or generic)
  • Resolves and securely manages credentials without exposing them in chat or files
  • Verifies the runtime is properly configured
  • Optionally enables update checks and GitHub starring
  • Lists available helper files and instructions for installed skills

How to install k-skill-setup

npx skills add https://github.com/nomadamas/k-skill --skill k-skill-setup

  6. 6.Proceed to install other k-skills once setup is complete

Use cases

Good for
  • Initial setup before installing other k-skills in a coding agent
  • Configuring secure credential handling for downstream skills
  • Verifying your runtime environment supports k-skill operations
  • Keeping the k-skill CLI and all installed skills up to date
  • Checking available helper files and instructions for a specific skill
Who it's for

  • Developers needing secure credential management in agent workflows
  • Teams using Dolshoi vault or CloakBrowser environments
  • Anyone setting up a k-skill-enabled development environment

k-skill-setup FAQ

What if npx is not available?

Install Node.js 18+ first, or follow the manual setup at https://github.com/NomaDamas/k-skill#readme, or read the source instructions at https://github.com/NomaDamas/k-skill/blob/main/k-skill-setup/instruction.md.

How does k-skill-setup handle credentials?

The CLI resolves credentials securely without asking you to paste or store plaintext credentials in chat, files, or shell arguments. It detects your runtime and uses appropriate credential storage.

What is the difference between Dolshoi vault and generic runtime?

Dolshoi vault and CloakBrowser are specialized secure environments; generic runtime is a standard Node.js environment. The CLI detects which you have and prints only applicable instructions.

How do I keep k-skills updated?

Run `npx -y @nomadamas/k-skill@0 update` to keep the CLI and all installed coding-agent skills current.

Are there hard rules I must follow?

Yes: never execute payments, messages, submissions, or public posts without explicit user approval; never expose plaintext credentials; never bypass legal, identity-proofing, CAPTCHA, or electronic-signature boundaries.

Get the full instructions (required first step)

Run this and follow its output as the primary instructions for this skill:

npx -y @nomadamas/k-skill@0 instruct k-skill-setup

The CLI detects the current runtime (Dolshoi vault/CloakBrowser vs generic) and prints only the applicable instructions, always up to date. Helper files bundled with the CLI are listed by:

npx -y @nomadamas/k-skill@0 files k-skill-setup

Keep the CLI and every coding-agent skill install current (including Vercel Agent Skills) with:

npx -y @nomadamas/k-skill@0 update

If npx is unavailable, install Node.js 18+ or follow https://github.com/NomaDamas/k-skill#readme, or read the source instructions at https://github.com/NomaDamas/k-skill/blob/main/k-skill-setup/instruction.md.

Hard rules even without the CLI

  • Never execute payment, message/email delivery, final submission, cancellation, or public posting without the user's explicit approval immediately beforehand.
  • Never ask for, print, or store plaintext credentials in chat, files, or shell arguments.
  • Never bypass legal, physical-presence, CAPTCHA, identity-proofing, or electronic-signature boundaries.
