How to use reddit

1.Run the quick check to verify the skill works: `python3 scripts/get_posts.py python --limit 3`
2.Use `get_posts.py` to fetch posts from a subreddit, specifying sort order (hot, new, top, rising, controversial) and optional time filter

Do I need a Reddit API key or authentication?

No. Reddit's public JSON API requires no authentication or API key. The skill uses the public endpoints directly.

What is the rate limit?

The public API allows 100 requests per minute. Respect this limit to avoid temporary blocks.

How do I get a post ID to use with get_post.py?

Post IDs are returned by get_posts.py and search_posts.py. You can also extract them from Reddit URLs (e.g., reddit.com/r/python/comments/abc123/..., where 'abc123' is the ID).

Can I search within a specific subreddit?

Yes. Use `search_posts.py` with the `--subreddit` flag to limit results to a single subreddit (e.g., `--subreddit ClaudeAI`).

What sorting and time options are available?

Sort options are: hot (default), new, top, rising, and controversial. Time filters (hour, day, week, month, year, all) apply only to top and controversial sorts.
