skillmarketplace
starchild-ai-agent/official-skills
Search, install, and publish skills across official, community, and global registries.
What is skillmarketplace?
Manage the skill marketplace by searching and installing skills from local, community, and global sources, or publishing your own skills. Use this when you need to find a specific skill, list what's installed, or share a custom skill with the registry.
- Search skills across local, Starchild community, and global registries (skills.sh)
- Auto-install the best matching skill via npx with a single command
- List all currently installed skills
- Publish custom skills to the Starchild registry with version control
- Validate skill metadata before publishing
How to install skillmarketplace
npx skills add https://github.com/starchild-ai-agent/official-skills --skill skillmarketplace- npx installed and available in PATH
- For publishing: Starchild-authored skill with valid SKILL.md frontmatter
- For publishing: access to OIDC token endpoint (Fly.io environment)
How to use skillmarketplace
- 1.Call search_skills(query="your-topic") to find and auto-install a skill
- 2.Call search_skills() with no arguments to list all installed skills
- 3.Call search_skills(query="topic", auto_install=false) to search without installing
- 4.For publishing: validate your SKILL.md has name, version, description, author, and tags
- 5.For publishing: obtain OIDC token via Fly.io API with audience 'skills-market-gateway'
- 6.For publishing: POST skill files to https://skills-market-gateway.fly.dev/skills/publish with Bearer token
- 7.After publishing: note the immutable version—bump version number to publish updates
Use cases
- Find and install a specialized skill like 'funding rate' or 'deploy' without manual GitHub browsing
- List all installed skills to see what's available in your environment
- Publish a custom skill you've created to share with the community
- Update a published skill by bumping the version and republishing
- Search for skills by topic (e.g., trading, Kubernetes) and auto-install the best match
- AI agents needing to discover and install task-specific skills
- Skill developers publishing custom skills to the community
- Teams managing a shared skill ecosystem
skillmarketplace FAQ
No. Always use search_skills() tool instead. It automatically handles local, community, and global sources and installs via npx.
The skill is immediately available. Only call skill_refresh() if you manually edited skill files on disk.
Only Starchild-authored skills can be published. For other skills, use the search_skills tool to find and install them.
Versions are immutable once published. Bump the version number in SKILL.md (e.g., 1.0.0 → 1.0.1) and publish again.
Required: name (lowercase, alphanumeric + hyphens, 2-64 chars), version (semver). Recommended: description, author, tags array.

Searching & Installing Skills
Always use the search_skills tool. Do NOT manually curl, browse GitHub, or download SKILL.md files.
search_skills does everything automatically:
- Local — checks installed skills first
- Starchild community — searches community-skills index
- skills.sh — searches the global skills ecosystem (OpenClaw, Vercel, Anthropic, etc.)
- Auto-install — installs the best match via
npx skills add(default:auto_install=true)
Usage
search_skills(query="deploy") # search + auto-install best match
search_skills(query="trading") # search + auto-install
search_skills(query="k8s", auto_install=false) # search only, don't install
search_skills() # list all installed skills
After search_skills installs a skill, it's immediately available. Call skill_refresh() only if you manually edited skill files.
What NOT to do
- Do NOT
curlGitHub repos to browse/download skills - Do NOT
mkdir -p skills/<name>and manually write SKILL.md - Do NOT use
web_fetchto download skill files - Do NOT use the old gateway search/install endpoints (they no longer exist)
Publishing (Starchild Only)
Publishing still uses the gateway. Only Starchild-authored skills can be published.

SKILL_DIR="./skills/my-skill"
head -20 "$SKILL_DIR/SKILL.md"
Step 2: Get OIDC token
TOKEN=$(curl -s --unix-socket /.fly/api \
-X POST -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
"http://localhost/v1/tokens/oidc" \
-d '{"aud": "skills-market-gateway"}')
Step 3: Build and send publish request
SKILL_DIR="./skills/my-skill"
GATEWAY="https://skills-market-gateway.fly.dev"
PAYLOAD=$(python3 -c "
import os, json
files = {}
for root, dirs, fnames in os.walk('$SKILL_DIR'):
for f in fnames:
full = os.path.join(root, f)
rel = os.path.relpath(full, '$SKILL_DIR')
with open(full) as fh:
files[rel] = fh.read()
print(json.dumps({'files': files}))
")
