How to use producthunt
- 1.Set your Product Hunt access token in ~/.zshrc as PRODUCTHUNT_ACCESS_TOKEN
- 2.Verify setup by running: python3 scripts/get_posts.py --limit 3
- 3.Use get_post.py with a slug or ID to fetch individual posts
- 4.Use get_posts.py with optional filters (--topic, --after, --limit) to search posts
- 5.Use get_topic.py or get_topics.py to browse topics
- 6.Use get_user.py or get_user_posts.py to look up creators
- 7.Use get_collection.py or get_collections.py to access curated collections

producthunt FAQ
Visit https://www.producthunt.com/v2/oauth/applications, create a developer application, and copy your access token. Set it as PRODUCTHUNT_ACCESS_TOKEN in ~/.zshrc.
Product Hunt allows 6250 complexity points per 15-minute window. Most queries consume relatively few points; check the API docs for specific query costs.
You can filter posts by topic using --topic flag and by date using --after flag. For broader keyword search, use the get_topics.py command with --query parameter.
Use python3 scripts/get_post_comments.py POST_ID --limit [number] to retrieve comments for a post.
You can retrieve user profiles by username and fetch all posts by that user. The API provides user metadata and their post history.
