aws-serverless
sickn33/agentic-awesome-skills
Build production-ready serverless applications on AWS with Lambda, API Gateway, and event-driven patterns.
What is aws-serverless?
Specialized skill for constructing serverless applications on AWS. Covers Lambda functions, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS event-driven patterns, SAM/CDK deployment, and cold start optimization techniques.
- Deploy Lambda functions with optimized cold start performance
- Build event-driven architectures using SQS/SNS patterns
- Create REST APIs with API Gateway integration
- Design DynamoDB schemas for serverless workloads
- Deploy infrastructure using SAM (Serverless Application Model) or CDK
- Monitor Lambda memory usage and performance metrics
How to install aws-serverless
npx skills add https://github.com/sickn33/agentic-awesome-skills --skill aws-serverless- AWS account with appropriate IAM permissions
- Node.js runtime environment
- AWS CLI or CDK CLI installed
- Familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB)
How to use aws-serverless
- 1.Review the detailed guide before starting implementation
- 2.Define your Lambda function handlers and event sources
- 3.Configure API Gateway endpoints or event triggers (SQS/SNS)
- 4.Design DynamoDB tables if using database services
- 5.Write deployment code using SAM or CDK templates
- 6.Test memory usage and cold start performance locally
- 7.Deploy to AWS and monitor with CloudWatch logs
Use cases
- Building scalable REST APIs without managing servers
- Creating event-driven microservices with SQS/SNS triggers
- Implementing real-time data processing pipelines
- Deploying scheduled tasks and background jobs on Lambda
- Building multi-service serverless applications with infrastructure-as-code
- Backend engineers building serverless applications
- DevOps engineers deploying AWS infrastructure
- Full-stack developers creating scalable APIs
- Solutions architects designing event-driven systems
aws-serverless FAQ
Cold start is the latency when Lambda initializes a new container. Optimization techniques include reducing package size, using provisioned concurrency, and optimizing initialization code to improve response times for production applications.
SAM is simpler for basic serverless applications and uses YAML templates. CDK offers more programmatic control and is better for complex multi-service architectures. Choose based on your infrastructure complexity.
Use on-demand billing for unpredictable workloads or provisioned capacity with auto-scaling for predictable patterns. Monitor consumed capacity and adjust based on actual usage patterns.
Use SQS for reliable message queuing with retry logic, SNS for pub/sub patterns, and combine them for fan-out architectures. Implement proper error handling and dead-letter queues.
Stop if the task requires environment-specific validation, expert security review, or falls outside serverless patterns. Always validate outputs and test in non-production environments first.

AWS Serverless
Specialized skill for building production-ready serverless applications on AWS. Covers Lambda functions, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS event-driven patterns, SAM/CDK deployment, and cold start optimization.
Detailed Guide
Read the detailed guide before executing this skill. It retains the complete procedure and reference material. Treat its safety, prerequisites, and validation requirements as mandatory. For focused work, load the relevant sections; for end-to-end work, read the guide completely.
Monitor memory usage
exports.handler = async (event, context) => {
const used = process.memoryUsage();
console.log('Memory:', {
heapUsed: Math.round(used.heapUsed / 1024 / 1024) + 'MB',
heapTotal: Math.round(used.heapTotal / 1024 / 1024) + 'MB'
});
// ...
};
When to Use
Use this skill when the request clearly matches the capabilities and patterns described above.
Limitations
- Use this skill only when the task clearly matches the scope described above.
- Do not treat the output as a substitute for environment-specific validation, testing, or expert review.
- Stop and ask for clarification if required inputs, permissions, safety boundaries, or success criteria are missing.
